Firehawk Indy 500 Tires by Firestone
Originally founded in Akron, Ohio in 1900, Firestone is a popular American tire manufacturer. The company's founder, Harvey Firestone originally started the brand to supply pneumatic tires for wagons, buggies, and other forms of wheeled transportation common in the era, but quickly saw huge potential for marketing tires for automobiles.
Firestone utilized his friendship with Henry Ford to become the original equipment supplier of Ford Motor Company automobiles, and was also active in the replacement market, allowing the tire manufacturer to grow rapidly.
Firestone tires are also very popular in the Indy 500. The 1911 Indianapolis 500 auto race was won by a car running Firestone tires. Firestone-shod cars won all editions of the race from 1920 to 1966.
Firestone tires are original equipment on the following vehicles: Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Sienna, Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass, Chrysler Sebring, GMC Silverado and Canyon.
In 1988, the company was sold to the Japanese Bridgestone Corporation, allowing the brand to further develop its technology. At Wheelwiz, we are proud to offer customers Firestone Tires.
